Who are we? We are a group of people who live, work, or volunteer in Holyoke and care about the availability of reliable, up-to-date health information. Some of us are librarians; some of us work in local health agencies. All of us think that the people of Holyoke need more information --in understandable language-- about illnesses and health concerns facing us.
We have incorporated as Holyoke Consumer Health Library, Inc., a non-profit organization in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Bylaws.
We have been a virtual information service with neither paid staff nor physical space. Our virtual library has been on the web: http://www.holyokehealth.info. Rather than promoting our own website, however, we focus on promoting the much more comprehensive and more frequently updated consumer health database known as MedlinePlus. See MedlinePlus.gov in English or Spanish.
